This route has been cancelled due to the fires. The new Project Rwanda route is located here.
The geoladders staff will be moving all scheduled riders to the new route. For those wanting to do the "short" version this year, the route will be the same as the long version, but skip the out and back loop through Caspers. See www.50mileride.com for details and to sign up for the event officially.

This year's route leaves Cooks Corner, heads over Oneil Park, into Rancho Santa Margarita/Robinson Ranch out out to Caspers for a big loop before finishing through the Arroyo Trabuco and back to Cooks.

Fantastic weather for a long tough climb like this. Plenty hard. Somehow managed to break a seat rail on the descent. Great Ride!

Crazy nuts to try and climb Harding when it's 95+ degrees outside. Oh man! I was feeling poorly for awhile, but all the thunder activity higher above was a big motivator, so we kept going. It was Josh's first time up Harding. Finally, at Laurel Springs we got some well received freezing rain. Not much, just enough to cool us off by what felt to be 20 degrees. Barely lasted 5 minutes, but thankfully the swirling winds remained most of the way to the top, keeping the bugs at bay. Surprised and delighted to see lots of wildflowers still in bloom up here. In fact, the upper section is nearing "overgrown" status. Goodness. Near the top, the winds stopped and it got real muggy and buggy, had to don the head net. Nice cool descent on the backside, but once we made the big turn the heat and humidity turned on. Finished the descent just at real dark and navigated home via the luscious moonlight. Another great adventure. Great Ride!

Bunch of bike love all morning long. Bikes loved it, I loved it, it was a love fest, with bikes, and parts, and stuff. Now it's early afternoon and time to ride. Gotta go big, but don't wanna drive, hmmmm... Harding here I come! Ugh... Harding, here I come. Ain't no Easy Street, you know, especially today. Nice cool breezes, tons of solitude, and climbing, lots and lots of climbing. Hung out at 4 Corners and debated dropping down Maple Springs, but that was obviously open to traffic and that did not sound appealing at all. Good choice too, sensational twilight descent on Harding. The climb back home was uneventful, but I was tiring pretty quick. Rode the Phantom which ran flawlessly! Great Ride!

Started out just before 3pm today, still a bit too warm and it took its toll for sure. Wanted to know, and found out, the 30t Ring with the 42tGC is a good combo in that I can keep it turning without pain, but that combo is no speed demon that gets you there fast. Maybe it was the heat? Garmin clocked 100 most of the time, but with breeze it was more like 80's. I set goals and as I made those I reset them until finally I hit the downhill on the backside. And then the additional uphill grind. Success! Nice to hang out at 4 Corners for a bit, been a very long time, actually. Lots of good good times there. Tired and hot, I set off for the cooling descent, and it was indeed. Trail is in better condition once around the "big turn" and I was appreciative of that. The climb back home was actually quite pleasant despite being so tired. Great Ride!

I knew it had been awhile, but not almost an entire year. Glad I went out to do this today. Couple times was not sure I was going to make it, but persevered and just kept pedaling. Temps went from warm sunshine to cold shade. Trail is in great condition and the descent was a bit more fun as a result. Great Ride!
