Stupendous views make this a ride the strong rider will enjoy both aerobically and aesthetically. Panoramas and vistas appear from the start of the ride as you climb relentlessly. The return is one long, non-stop, thrilling downhill. This is an out-and-back ride for when the Santa Cruz singletrack is overgrown with poison oak. DIRECTIONS: Take Highway 154 off the 101 in Santa Barbara for about 10 miles turning RIGHT on Paradise Road for about 5 miles until you reach the Lower Oso Recreation area (you will have to drive over a water crossing). Turn LEFT at the sign which says Upper Oso for 1.3 miles heading toward the rear of the camp. You will need an Adventure Pass.

07/29/12 Weather started out at 50 degrees with fog and ended at 90 with blazing sun. Awesome ride. About 10 other cyclists out there. They said that both the Buckhorn & Santa Cruz singletracks are overgrown with poison oak. Hence the out-and-back.
