A rugged desert ride in Joshua Tree National Park offers views like nowhere else. This is the trail to take when it's raining everywhere else in Southern Calinfornia. The ride consists of sandy fireroads through Pinkham and Thermal Canyons. Not much climbing or technical work although you will get practice riding in soft sand. The end, unfortunately, consists of a 6-mile road climb. DIRECTIONS: Enter Joshua Tree National Park from the Cottonwood exit of Highway 10. Pay your entrance fee and park at the Cottonwood Ranger Station.

02/21/10 Great ride through JTree with Pam. Amazing views of the desert, Salton Sea, moutinas, and amazingly deep sand. This ride will beat you up - LOTS of sand (miles and miles of it) followed by fire road littered with dollheads. No technical riding and you will not exert yourself on any climbs. The sand will just slowly wear you down over 20 miles.
