Description of the trail:The biking trail begins from Sevanavank, in the Gegharkunik province of Armenia. Lake Sevan is one of the most favorite resorts for Armenians. The most popular tourist center is Sevanavank, located on the Sevan peninsula. In summer, the water temperature reaches 21 degrees, so you can swim in the Lake. The Vaskenian Theological Seminary of Sevan was established in 1990 on the east of the Lake Sevan peninsula. After touring around, you will ride on the only paved trail in the area, until you reach Tsovagyugh village. Then, via the motorway, you will ride up (on the marked trail) to the Areguni mountain range, by gravel trail. At an altitude of 2,450m, the road begins to descend sharply towards the Tavush province. The biking trail then passes through the Dilijan National Park. You may be asked to stop there and register, as this is a state park. Riding downwards through the woods you will eventually reach the village of Khachardzan, then riding another 3km, you will reach the village of Aghavnavank. Afterwards, the trails lead you to the picturesque church of Aghavnavank, which is surrounded by rare tree species. Aghavnavank church and the Yew Grove, with their mysterious landscapes, are located in the Dilijan National Park. The biking trail from Sevanavank (Gegharkunik province) to Aghavnavank (Tavush province) ends at this point. Technical specifications of the trail:The best time: May - October, costs 7,000 – 7,500 AMD (if you take a taxi). ©State Tourism Committee of RA
