Great ride into the Carmel Forest from a new direction -- west. This ride offers a leisurely, but at times difficult, climb from the Limor Forest surrounding a Crusader Karta ruin (Le Destroit) near the ancient town of Atlit, tours the village of Daliyat el-Carmel and then descends the famous (and technical) Mt. Shokef singletrack. There are a few hike-a-bike segments on the way up and one most difficult one toward the end. DIRECTIONS: Exit Highway 2 at the Atlit junction, turn LEFT and then LEFT again parking in the lot just past the gas station on the RIGHT.

Started out humid but the breeze on the top of Mt. Shokef was great for the 8 riders.

Perfect day for riding with 9. Took a western approach to climbing up to Mt. Shokef via the village of Dalia. A fair amount of hike-a-bike was encountered on the initial climb as it is now overgrown with thorns. Returned via the Bet Oren road back to base.

Perfect, breezy weather for the 8 who rode. Took a slightly different route to climb to Mt. Shokef peak. All else was great.

Perfect weather to start the winter season with 12 riders.
