Take a classic ride, alter it for a hot summer day and you have a great ride in the making. Start early as you climb in between the walls of the cool and shaded Sorek Valley, the ride climbs up the Sataf Forest, then detours through the Tayasim mountain crossing down into the classic Nahal Kisalon Valley. Just to be different, it includes a bit of hike-a-bike in the Tayasim area and a non-standard descent into Kisalon Valley toward the swift finale. DIRECTIONS: Exit the main Jerusalem-Tel Aviv Highway (#1) at the Sha'ar Hagai exit. Take Highway 38 until the Shimshon Junction (road 44) and park in the Sonol gas station parking area.

Beautiful cool weather and over 200 riders out to try the new Ein Rafa singletrack extension from Tzoba (instead of descending The Wall). The riders were all heading in the opposite uphill direction interrupting this solo ride in places.
Climbed up the trail high above Sorek Valley to Ramat Raziel and the Air Force monument. Took an unmarked singletrack that was really sweet parallel to Raziel. Weather was chilly and threatening for the group of 11.
Followed the ride but cut over halfway down the South Kisalon side to the other side of the road for a new, fun downhill alternative for the 7 who rode.
Hot day but an early start provided a fun time for all 9 starting in reverse: up South Kisalon and down Sorek Valley.
What a cool ride for a hot day as the 12 riders enjoyed unlimited visibility all around.
