A ride through the Carmel Forest visting firsthand the effects of the devastating forest fire and the quick regrowth therein. The ride starts in Bet Oren, the fire epicenter, heads north through Little Switzerland which was untouched, then crosses to the west side of the Carmel Forest near Haifa University. Heading south thorugh more greenery and singletracks, the route crosses Highway 672 at the fire's origin in Usfiyah. DIRECTIONS: From the coastal highway #2, exit at the Bet Oren exit, and follow the signs up route 721 until Bet Oren. Park anywhere near the horse ranch called Cat Ballou.

Rode the trail backwards in the reverse direction. Added the Yaaran singletracks.

Started from the Lake parking area around Bet Oren. Humid at the outset for the 10 riders. Took the road back down.

Climbed Mt. Shokef for some added climbing with the group of 6 on a rather hot ride.

The group of 7 were lucky to have wonderful weather and a great ride. This ride took the dirt bypass around and up to Bet Oren instead of the highway. Good to see the Patriots.
