Super great day out on the bike. The temps were perfect, the route was long...and a bit challenging - AND my friend, Larry's Garmin calculated this route at 5800+ of climbing.
There were some icy/snow spots in the shade, and on the back side..but still fun. Buckthorn was AWESOME - had some snow on the top which made it a bit challenging...but seeing the white truck that had crashed up there = probably years ago - made the trek worth it. I was NOT expecting to see it.
Three hours of trail repair on Upper Holy Jim. Very nice day for the 1st of January. A couple of snow patches still on the road.
Training ride. Hadn't been down UHJ or Buckthorne. My Garmin 500 usually reads low, but it says 6,145-ft of ascent for this route. 1:22 from G to 4 corners, 2:10 to Peak, 2:33 to bottom of UHJ, 4:05 back to gate at MS.
Good training ride with some technical sngltk thrown in
Needed this one after being off the bike too long. Great ride with Thinkfast, Hippydude & Benito who had to turn back at the peak. Whole route was in good shape. Upper Holy Jim was to our liking. Had a nice visit with the I.E. boys when we made our way back up to the top of UHJ. Good seeing Jr. Munoz, Hal, Goldrunner, Mark1890 & Evilbawb. Was surprised how good I felt on the bike today. New X-Fusion front fork worked great. Talked to 2 hikers who had hiked up Joplin. Sounds like there are some bad spots but not as bad as I would have imagined. Need to see it for ourselves to really know.
Nice day to be out enjoying the hills. This is a nice route. Started with Ben, Brian and Tom. Ben turned around at the peak. Good to see Hal, Jr, Mark, Mark Jr and Ben out there today. I had fun hitting the biggest water crossing at full speed on the way down, got soaked though :)
