This grand tour is a double figure-8 ride consisting of 3 separate loops through the entire Gush Etzion area in between Hebron and Bethlehem. The trail follows the historic Patriarch's Way trail - a 2,000 year old dirt road leading from Hebron to Jerusalem complete with Roman milestone markers along the way. Climbing to Neve Daniel, the trail goes along the crest, then descends to a ride along the ancient Jerusalem aqueduct at the base of the city of Efrat. Two more loops on the eastern side of the hills pass multiple wellsprings and some tough aerobic climbing. The latter loop starting in Bat Ayin is complete with a tour of the deserted village of Jumjum from the 2nd temple era (0 AD) returning back to Bat Ayin. DIRECTIONS: Drive south along Highway 60 exiting at Alon Shvut. Continue past the southern entrance toward the old entrance to Alon Shvut and park by the main landmark - The Lone Oak Tree.

Rode the official Red Trail singletrack but did the Beyar loop at the end on this solo ride (*5436).
Beautiful ride with 10 riders and great water for a scorching hot day elsewhere around the country. Other bike riders had the same thought. Omitted the Jumjum segment and bonked toward the end but still fun.
Added the new Rosh Zurim singletrack segment feeding into the Abu Caleb trail. Did not do the 3rd trail down to Jumjum. Great weather for this solo ride.
Warm easterly wind blowing the entire time. Group of 12 riders. Prolonged ride by doing out and back on Ein El Kasis then riding to northern end on the 1st loop.
The threat of rain never happened. Just an awesome ride in the hills.
