Looking at my Blackstar History it looks like it has been 4 years since I rode out here. Need to do this more often and get back into better biking shape. I was struggling near the top to get to Beeks. Rode with Greg and he continued on to MW. Lots of others out there today. Bikers, runners and hikers. Hit all the singletracks on the way back down.
My spring equinox ride up to Beeks. Got 4 to show but lost one early on due to lack of fitness. (acceptable losses). Ran into two other friends coming down as they went up at 3 because one of them won't ride in the dark. A pleasant ride most of the way up. Of course, near Beek's came the wind and cool.
My Winter Solstice ride. Got 4 to 5 to show up. Saw Jupiter and Saturn nearly collide. Saw no meteorites - boo. It was pretty hard, haven't climbed enough recently. Weather was nice, almost warm.
Summer Solstice ride - last full day of spring. Got a group together to ride to Beeks. 7 of us celebrated the changing of the seasons with our pagan rituals at Beeks. Pleasant weather and a fun time.
Continuing my new old tradition of solstice BStar rides we went out tonight in advance of the solstice. As Eric said, it was a slowstice ride. I was pretty beat from the half marathon just four days ago. Pretty cold at the start, warmed up a bit until Hidden Ranch when we started getting the wind. Very windy on the ridge at Beek's. Chilly ride down, but we still had fun.
Organized an Autumnal Equinox Ride to continue my tradition of doing BStar rides on the Equinoxes and Solstices. Let's celebrate the seasons. Got about a dozen tonight. Bye Bye Summer.
I organized another Summer Solstice Ride up to Beeks and Summer did not show up. Misty, foggy breezy and cool. Did get 17 to show up and we had fun anyways, though there was no sun to see set.
Got 5 others to join me for a BStar ride to watch the Super Blood Wolf Moon Total Eclipse. Seems a dozen or so others had the same idea. A lot of hikers before the falls, mostly heading down. After all the rain this week the trail was totally fine. A few mud puddles, but just fine otherwise. A bit cloudy at the start. From Hidden Ranch up it was really clear. Got a bit chilly at the top while we watched the eclipse. Then, the breeze blew in some fog and visibility was about 50 feet, no more moon. By the time we got to the bottom gate it was legit drizzle. A fun ride.
My new old tradition of doing solstice rides to Beek's. Closest I could get to actually riding on the Solstice. Actually got about 10 people to join me. A bit chilly, but not truly cold. Good times out.
Last full day of summer, so I organized another ride. About a dozen of us went out on a pleasant evening.
