This loop begins with a brief stint through O'Neill Park and gradually work your way towards Santiago Canyon Road via some exciting scenic double-track. The ascent up Silverado Canyon will warm you up for the main grind up Maple Springs. After another significant fire road climb, this time along Main Divide, you'll pass up and over Santiago Peak before descending Lower Holy Jim singletrack.

Silverado start. Was fun having TrailMonkey escort me through O'Neil. I think he just wanted to make sure I didn't die in his local park. Felt good for whole ride, although I ran out of water on the way down HJ. Refilled at O'Neil, but no food for a while left me cramping on the ride back up Santiago Canyon. Had considered finishing with a bit of Blackstar but just called it a day after this loop. Talked to a hard core couple on Trabuco Creek road who had climbed the Luge and come down Cadilac.

Great day! Perfect weather. Did this loop but started it at the bottom of Maple Springs and finished off riding back up Silverado Canyon Road. Also added 4 or so extra miles by riding past HJ to "The Wall" and then turning around, heading back for Lower Holy Jim. It was nice to reminisce about The Traverse, and be grateful I wasn't racing it.
