Today I went up Brown Mountain with the intention of doing the Ken Burton Loop. NOT POSSIBLE because the Ken Burton Trail is closed by the US Forest Service. I walked a few yards into the trail and indeed the trail has been taken by the thorny vegetation. In my way back I took a different trail, my kind of trail, called EL PRIETO. There was a route in GL already created - THIS ONE - Nice ride over all. Very hot climb with a shaded descent.
Cool temps made the climb very nice. Explored Ken Burton trail for about 100 yards. Too much bush-wacking and my guess was that the switch-back going down were not in good shape. El Prieto is always a good ride.
Fell off a cliff on El Prieto. It wasn't even a technical part of the trail. The ride up to the top of Brown Mtn is very nice single track now.
back in the saddle again! brown mountain is mostly single track after fires and rains great time. el prieto is somewhat tough singletrack too! one of the better rides around in the san gabes
Very burnt bur ridable. It was like riding on the moon.
Rode with Mat today, great ride till the last 2 miles when Mat took a hard spill I know, he will be sore in the morning
Rode with Summitdude. Everything was great until the last 2 miles. Hit a rock and got launched. Leg bruised and scraped as well as my arms, wrist and shoulder. At least my bike is O K
