Unlike most Aliso - Wood Canyon routes, this technical fun-run will have you begin at the neighborhood on the other side of the park. After a very brief road section through a residential area you'll be initiated to the dirt per a short but steep singletrack climb up towards the water tower where the Five Oaks descent begins. After the steep & technical descent down Five Oaks you'll use Coyote Run to get to Mathis Canyon where you'll encounter your main climb which is quite challenging. Rock-it, another technical descent, (although not quite as steep) will set you on course for the return journey back to the neighborhood.

up rock-it, down car wreck

Got out there late afternoon today for a solo ride. Saw a younger rider doing what looked like intervals on Mathis. 3 riders walking up RockIt in the rock garden as I was coming down. Also a couple of riders at the end with no helmets and one with headphones who got a bit surprised as I pedaled past him. My ringing my bell and saying on your left weren't loud enough apparently. Good talking to Dale back at the cars. Charged the garmin after Saturday's ride but it was dead when I went to turn it on.

First time down Five Oaks and first time up Rock-it. Five Oaks was really loose, but a lot of fun. I saw 4 deer and a buck in the meadow at the bottom just before the fire road. As for Rock-it, it really wasn't that bad of a climb. I've been down it several times and have been really intimidated to climb it, but I made it up no problem!

Late afternoon ride. Only saw 2 other riders the entire ride. 5 Oaks is not loose anymore but there are some ruts to be careful of. The trails I was on are in good shape, any mud puddles were easily avoided.
