07/04/20 - A bit of a pre holiday SUP before they possibly close the harbor beaches. A bit windy at the start, but not bad most of the way. Had a new kayaker who did alright, until he managed to fall off and deposit his phone at the bottom of the channel. Oooops. And, another managed to loose the skeg off his SUP and got the loosy goosy paddle back.
But, the beers were cold and the scenery nice.

07/03/20 - no rso. StartTime=1053. [26042.GT9; 93025. total; 1975. to tie Betty]. 170. A very light rain 15 minutes in. 40 minutes in it stopped. 60 minutes in it started again. No mud. Storm cells were seen in all directions. Thunder was heard and no lighting could be seen. Monsoon season has started.

07/03/20 - First time riding this area or it has been a very long time since the last time. Need to do this one again. Part of Back Bay Drive is fenced off due to rock slide. Had to go down into the marsh to get around but luckily it was dry and there was already a path that others had started.

06/15/20 - Ken Burton was overgrown, about 2/3rds of the way down, to the point it was grabbing pedals and handlebars. Had to walk a few sections as the bushes and exposure could have been a bad scene.

05/31/20 - Closing Whiting must have sent everyone to Blackstar - I've never seen it so crowded. Ended up parking in the North 40, haha. Counted over 230 hikers. Guess I was a little bored on the climb in. Great ride, though.

05/15/20 - Nice ride. It’s been a long time since I rode some of the single track off Black ⭐️ and they are getting overgrown. Quite a few others out enjoying a ride. A new chainring quieted down the drivetrain.
05/15/20 - Harding was empty except for a couple deer. A few Jeeps at four corners. Joplin also empty and awesome. After the washout, Lower Joplin is a no go. Rose Canyon is overgrown with poison oak. I had to HAB out. Should have just gone down the Luge.

05/11/20 - Noon ride (bad idea). Not very hot but the Sun was merciless. First ride after hematoma of left leg. My leg did good but I got exhausted because I was out of shape after several weeks not riding due to recovering. (NEW CHAIN)

04/13/20 - I expected it to be a bit wet and slippery, and it was. Some places not as bad as I would have thought, others worse than I thought. Even though the park is open, I am going to give it a couple more days to dry out.
03/31/20, 02:40 PM You may be right, but the signs were at the intersection of shadowland cir modjeska grade rd and modjeska canyon, way before any of the good staging areas. I might just ride up maple springs and then ride down Harding and not worry about parking back in there, not sure yet.

03/29/20 - Geared Niner - nice to not kill myself on the super steep hills. But strangely knees hurting afterwards, while last weekend on the SS doing 31 miles, no issues. Lots of stream crossings in the arroyo - 3 had to walk on log as too deep to ride through. Waterworks is amazing - whomoever did the work on the berms and jumps, kudos to you. Never been more fun to ride.
