Beautiful morning to be on the bike. Was a little under dressed for the weather, but warmed up once I got the blood going. Borrego has a few more small areas of water and the mud bog towards the front is still a mess. Looks like the little bit of rain last week kept Mustard a bit tacky.

Just a short one before work. Another chilly but great ride. Had the whole place to myself until the exit route.

Think this bug is finally behind me - time to take advantage of this great weather, although it was a wee bit cold this morning. Aside from the big mud hole towards the beginning, the trails are in great shape. Didn't want this slow ride to end, but a warm cup 'o joe was callin' my name.

Finally - first ride of the year/decade. Being sick sucks, especially when you're sitting inside hacking up a lung and looking out at perfect riding weather for the last week. Still not 100% but just had to do it. Went in the backside so I had an easy bail if needed. Actually felt pretty good; not much climbing, but did more than I thought I would. Weather was perfect, trails are awesome, and there were quite a few riders out mid-day, mid week.

Oops - last ride of the decade and I forgot to post it. Chose the wind over mud today - a wee bit windy on the exposed climbs. Fun stuff - had to go back up and hit Cactus again; even did the Sage Scrub Hat Trick. Trails are in great shape. Actual ride date - 12-31-19

Not great, but not as bad as I thought I would be considering the layoff and feeling under the weather. WT Cactus et.all were in pretty good shape.

Wanted to hit the Luge but slept in a little when I saw that it was windy and decided to stay here instead. Felt like I had a head wind from every direction. Saw two families of deer this morning; one on Serrano that included a good size buck. Second group was close to the exit - had a couple cross in front of me. Nice to see some of the wildlife coming back.

Park is open, park is wet. Still didn't want to test out Borrego/Mustard and judging from the condition of Water Tank I'm glad I passed on the front. A little more mud than I'm used to seeing caked on the tires during the climb in. Another day of sun should help the exposed areas, at least.

Kinda surprised when the hotline said that the trails were open. Had to sneak one in before the next bit of rain comes through. Avoided Borrego/Mustard - really didn't trust that side would be in decent shape. Back side was pretty good; dirt was a little inconsistent; most was pretty good, but there were some patches that were a little sketchy. Just kept it real... fun stuff.

Was expecting it to be much colder than it was so I bundled up. Or, was it not as cold as I expected because I bundled up? Been a slow month - gotta try and get another lap in before the rain hits.

Slept in and had a late start. Thought I would see a lot more traffic at 8:15 on a Sunday morning. Wasn't too bad - skipped Borrego, so maybe that's why. Surprised to see the soft spots on the climb in after the rain, but the interior looked a little better. Corners on Live Oak were a little more packed, but that might not be for long.

What a slow ride this morning - felt like an out of body experience, a body with no legs or lungs... Did get to spend about 10 minutes watching a Momma deer and one of her younger off-springs on Borrego. Never ceases to amaze me how comfortable they can be around people. We stood there and just looked at each other from a distance of 40/50 feet; Momma fully on the trail, the kid just off. Momma was interested in something on the other side and eventually walked across but the young stayed behind and eventually realized that she was going to have to cross in front of me. Waited until she got enough nerve to do it before I moved on. Kinda cool to take a break and just observe the quite nature of our parks.

Weather couldn't make up its mind - pretty chilly in the canopy, and a bit warm in the sun which is usually the case, but this morning was a pretty significant difference; 10-15 degrees? Fun stuff - pretty quite out there on the first lap - saw a few hikers and one rider coming though on the second installment.

Used to ride out this way a long time ago when we would come out to visit the in-laws. Actually took my daughter on some of these trails 15 years ago and a lot has changed since then - paved parking w/bathrooms, new trails with signage. Wasn't planning on this ride (actually had mapped out Landmine Loop through Blue Diamond) but the parking area mapped on Trailforks no longer exists. Kinda glad that I kept going and landed here. Met a few peeps in the parking lot that pointed me to some nice, flowy desert single track. Rode something like this: Trail out of parking lot to Viagra, Mustang Loop to Cactus Slalom to "T" at Landmine Loop, turned around and climbed "Lawnmower" to "Rubber Ducky" which kinda brought me back to the parking lot.  Other Comments

Been a bit under the weather and busy - two circumstances that make it hard to ride on a consistent basis. Great to get out this morning. Just a slow cruise, enjoying the scenery.

Didn't have a whole lot of time this morning but I've been wanting to go back out to Harding since it has been years since I've been there. Like most of the trails around here, it could use some rain. Still the best fireroad trail around; even the shortened version. Anyone know what the left hand drop at .4 miles leads to? Doesn't appear very appealing from the aerial look so I've never really checked it out.  Other Comments

Just a deliberate slow, quiet spin this morning. I have ridden through this area so many times, it is easy to take for granted the beauty with which God has surrounded us. I needed a reality check this morning; after hundreds of rides through here, it is indeed still beautiful, and I am so thankful.
