Porcupine Rim is one of the best trails in the United States with technical climbing, slickrock, ledge descents, plenty of exposure and views. Some sections may be hike-a-bike for even professional riders. With the altitude and loose rock, the first four miles is a moderately streneous ascent for most riders. The remainder is sure to bring a smile to your face as you descend challenging terrain including an exposed singletrack during the final 3 miles. Be sure to take in the views starting about mile 3 on your right. The trail is well-marked and difficult to get lost on. Follow the signs and the tire tracks.
The BEST trail I have ever rode. It has it all, technical climbs/decents, fast singletrack, drops, jumps, scenery.. just about anything you could think of this trail has it. I would highly recommend if you have never rode in Moab, to make it out there, it truely is mountain-biking mecca.
Quite warm on the way up to the rim, but got a cool breeze on the way down. Jammed my shoulder on a stairstep climb; hope it feels better tomorrow. This is a very technical descent, lots of fun if you don't kill yourself.
We decided to take in Porcupine while in Moab for the 24. This was a spectacular ride - best I have experienced. Six riders in all and it went very smooth - a few bumps and a flat. The total time shown included about five miles back to town on the pavement.
Beautiful views of the Arches National Park. The 4x4's were kind of a pain at the top, but the single track was awsome. Would like to do that a few times more.
Great ride, lots of ledges and drops. The bottom gets more interesting. Be prepared for a LONG ride back to town or the trailhead. Coyote Tours has a shuttle for $10.
Great ride. Lots more climbing than I expected. We also rode an additional 5 miles back to the hotel from the end of the trail. Definitely worth it. Amazing trail. Technical. Drops and ledges galore.
repost: Amazing ride w/ Gargoyle & Shake Dust. Will make this official later - got a lot of good photos. All three went OTB. Moab Day 1 in the books. You all must do this ride someday.
