This is the full route of the second annual Project Rwanda event to be held on December 29th 2007. Proceeds from the ride and donations will be sent to Project Rwanda to buy specialty purpose bikes for Rwandan Coffee Growers. See www.50mileride.com for details and to officially sign up for the event.

This year's route leaves Cooks Corner, heads over Oneil Park, into Rancho Santa Margarita/Robinson Ranch and gives you the option to either go long or short at the Dove Canyon Waterfall. The full ride takes West Ridge Trail out to Caspers Wilderness Park for a big loop before returning to the Dove Canyon Waterfall, then finishing via Chiquita Ridge, Tijeras Creek, through the Arroyo Trabuco, O'Neil Park and back to Cooks. The short version simply omits the out and back loop to Caspers from the Dove Canyon Waterfall.

Event organizers had only a short time to prepare this year due to the recent wild fires, getting the necessary permits, etc. The new route is slightly under a full 50 miles, but the spirit of the ride has not changed.

Please come out and help this year's ride be another success!

RollnStone01/09/09Solo ride. Didn't see any MTBers the whole ride. Followed the edge of the fog all the way to Caspers.
shrek04/26/08Tough last few miles with the heat.
sirenmary01/04/08Please help me get this route into my garmind edge 305. I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but the .crs files from geoladders don't work. It will take .tcx files though. Fun ride though - great people.
ericfoltz01/01/08Kind of windy out in Caspers but it was mellow the rest of the route.
ericfoltz01/01/08Pretty good long route.
quad damage12/31/07Rode with Troy for most of the ride. Good way to end the year.
EarlyMan12/31/07Did it on the SS, how else? The last climb was uncalled for! Despite a high speed ejection at mile eight or so and very sore chest/back for the remainder of the ride I had a great time.
mtbgal197712/30/0712/29/07 grrrreat riding with you, rob, cyclo dave and kimberlee!! you guys are THE BEST!!!

NikoS12/30/07awesome ride with friends for a great cause...what more can you ask for?
NikoS12/30/07Fairly easy, just long with lots of climbing!
House12/29/07Would have broken 4 hours if I hadn't ventured off the course on the way back to Cook's. Tried my best to stay with Jason, but he was too strong.
esheafer12/29/07Fun ride

Kahunawood12/29/07Most miles ever ridden on mtb. second half of course much better than first 25 miles. Could have done without the hill at 43 miles (that's just mean). Very well organized event. Awesome volunteers.

ThinkFast12/29/07Great ride today. Spent most of the morning riding with Ryan and Dave G. I lost my camera though (Nikon Coolpix S200) so if anyone found one please let me know. Thanks.
big_guy12/29/07WOW, that was great... and hard. It was the longest ride i ever done. on a brand new Kona Hei Hei 29er. the bike did its very best, I love it. I just set myself a goal to lose 50 lb before the next one.
Winger12/29/07This was a pretty good route. I'm proud to have cleaned all the tough climbs. The water crossings seemed deep. Good times hanging with the group at the after party. Matt needs to share his good raffle luck.
rushak12/29/07Great ride and a great event! Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers for putting this together. Kudos to all the riders that made this happen. I was hoping to do it under 4 hours, but was just shy of that. The course layout was fun and the climbs were challenging especially after 40+ miles. Can't wait for the ride next year.
Von-Skipp12/29/07Pretty fun ride, not bad.
flyingbrian12/29/07great turn out for the ride, 400 hundred people or so. Won a new set of lights in the rafel !
Hermit12/29/07SUPER fun event! Great seeing everyone today. The weather was nearly perfect for riding. Everyone had lots of fun at Cook's afterward. Armondo--Your 20 tickets won 4 freaking gift bags in the raffle! I won one bag that included a women's jersey and 5 spin classes, hahaha! Any ladies out there want a jersey and spin classes?
Peddler12/29/07Lots of riders, and a great ride for a good cause.
zunGu12/29/07Fun day! Great to have an event like this so close to home. Also glad too see some georiders winning some good raffle prizes (well deserving no doubt).

MTB Fiend12/29/07Yehaw!Great ride! Great event! Rode the Unicoi, after all a cross-country ride deserves a cross-country bike - good choice. Flatted on the way to Caspers, on the downhill behind Dove Cyn. No other issues. Rode the last 2/3 with mtnbikej. Did better than I thought I might. Great ride, really Great volunteers, even won something in the raffle.
Blueman12/29/07Great day. Fun ride... I'm really tired!
Manuel Prado12/29/07Fun ride lots of People
Hannibal12/29/07Great ride but it really showed me that I am in lousy shape right now. Cramped for the last 20 miles.
RollnStone12/29/07A well organized ride, good weather, and I survived.
One Flew OTB12/05/07Played hooky from work today and collected the route for this year's full ride. Roger had major cramps and had to limp home early. Long day in the saddle, but sure beats work!
