San Juan Trail is considered by many to be one of the top 5 trails in Southern California. It can be done as a shuttle or as a climb half way up (to cocktail rock) and back (see other San Juan routes). A favorite version though is to do the lengthy full climb to the top and really earn the celebrated 11+ mile ride back down. It's a classic!!

04/05/16 SS. Had a short day at work. Took my bike with me and headed to SJ. Was warm when I rolled out at 9:30. Only 1 other car in the lot. Trail is in good shape, but is getting pretty overgrown. Made good time to Cocktail Rock and continued on up to Blue Jay. Saw a couple of other riders at Viejo Tie. Very toasty topping out at Blue Jay. Fortunately the water at the campground was coming out ice cold. Uneventful run down. Great day on the bike.
