gone2vegas07/24/10First ride on the new bike and of course I went OTB. Bike is fine.
DirtyD07/10/10Couple of crashes but a great ride with Juan and Becca.
SuperDutyDave07/05/10My friends 14-yo son is amazingly fast and in control. Probably last time I beat him downhill!
ridnsolo06/18/10First, ride in the 3 months. I've been off the bike to long felt a little squirrelly today. But felt good to be riding again. Old san juan was overgrown, but we had great temps, so that made up for the overgrowth.
slow up06/14/10Krista's first time down. She did great AND had fun!
SuperDutyDave06/05/10Real nice in Blue Jay--tough climb in the heat
DirtyD05/31/10Great shuttle run with my buddy Matt
Hellride05/23/10Fun group ride - 11 of us in all. Beautiful day and lots of riders out.
Hellride05/23/10Very technical from start to finish. The top: roots, ruts, rocks, ditches, overgrowth. The bottom: exposure, switchbacks, ruts, and rocks. Fun overall but not for the faint of heart.
DirtyD05/22/10Great solo ride on OC's best trail. MANY thanks to my buddy Alex for shuttling me!
SlowClimber05/18/10Brian and I took, Bob, and Hakan out for a ride while visiting So Cal. Had not been up here after the rains - trail seasoned. Great to get back on the bike after having had to break for medical reason over the last for weeks.
motoxscott05/16/10Late afternoon ride. Starting to get pretty dry and over grown.
rlinde1105/09/10The trail is great! It does have large grooves or ruts in a lot of areas from the rain and the bushes are over-grown, but I personally thinks it adds to the challenge. Can't wait to ride it again!
Rowsby05/09/10Night ride with the ibis & Bikeco guys. Fun ride, thanks bikeco for the invite!
Laggdawg04/25/10Saturday dusk session with Doug, Binh, Tami, Lyn. Saw Permagrin, Nancy, Hugh hiking up.
slow up04/12/10Shuttle 2 of 2 on Sunday w/Roddy & Wilson. Computer broke on crash=no times posted.
AGAR2304/11/10Great fun! Out of shape so took too long. Some single track still overgrown and tight. Last 6 miles of down hill made the trip worth it.
AGAR2304/11/10
Gerry Lattimer04/04/10Late night shuttle after Aliso to Joplin ride. 10 brave souls finished sometime after 1:00am
Laggdawg04/04/10Drake, Dot, Doug, Lauren, Jerry, Binh, Kirk, Cynthia, Me
DuaneH03/27/10OVER-RATED. The rain has cut a HUGE groove in the trail to where you have to walk up from miles 3-6. The brush is Way over grown. Sratches your arms and legs up bad. The only downhill in this 12 mile trail is the last 4 and its ok at best. Dont believe the hype
SuperDutyDave03/20/10HOT!!
MaR03/14/10Rode w/ the crew, went through Old San Juan detour instead. Parts of trails were really sandy. Great ride overall.
SuperDutyDave03/13/10Someday's you get teh bear and others he gets you. Today was my day. Excellent trail conditions--low traffic and one giant crash. Still beats working!
SuperDutyDave03/06/10Started pouring 10 minutes after Cocktail Rock--another interesting ride down. 38:43:08 from CR with rain--lol
SuperDutyDave02/28/10Beautiful day--could not have been any better
SuperDutyDave02/20/10WOW-what a great day with surprisingly mild weather. Excellent traction
abhemet02/17/10I dominated San Juan today. Perfect run.
Shane@IRF02/14/10Fun ride with Don, Alex, and Hegie. I just wish I didn't have to rush home for Valentines day. Next time I'll make sure we have more time.
Ladera Dave02/13/106 strong riders today, past pace, trail is in great shape, a few muddy spots.
SuperDutyDave02/13/10Great conditions & not too crowded. Mechanical failure in rear brake made for an interesting ride down
ridnsolo02/12/10Fun ride w/ friends from work. There was alot more water on the trail then expected, but it was ridable.
Hippydude02/10/10Did this with Trobe1 after, 3 laps on San Juan Loop Trail...
trobe102/10/10First time doing this shuttle ride. Not a big fan of shuttle rides but tying it in with the SJ Loop made it fun. Haven't been pass the Candy Store on Ortega HWY in over 10 years. We took what we thought was the fastest way to Blue Jay but once there it didn't seem right to me. Driving back up we stopped at the Candy Store to see if there was another turn off but were told we went the right way. Still didn't seem right so I called YOLO. Thanks for the correct info Ben!. Enduro
TrailKing02/05/10Great ride with some of the Shimano guys. Soaking wet but never really got rained on. The trail was perfect!
Marcos01/31/102nd run
JTuttle01/23/10Shuttle with SKINNY, vt1Ryan, Twitch and RedBarron. Started late and did the last 30 minutes in the dark with no light. Luckily everyone made it out safe. Thanks for the ride guys.
vt1ryan01/23/10Shuttle with SKINNY,Justin, Twitch and RedBarron. Started late and finished the trail with Redbaron in the dark for the last hour. Thanks for Twitch leaving us a light on the trail for us. Thanks
redbaron01/23/10Third ride of the day, with the same crew as before (SKINNY, vt1ryan, Twitch, and JTuttle). Started late and finished even later! Left more of my skin on the wet rocks that I would of liked to, but I was glad to amuse the crew! Finished the last hour of the trail with vt1Ryan in total darkness. . . . .Props go ut to Twich for the flash light he left for vt1Ryan and I on the trial to find our way back, and for vt1Ryan for stayen with me till the bottom!!! I owe you guys big time!!!
Twitch01/23/10San Juan held up great. I was able to drain a few of the large puddles. There is still some water running down the trail in the upper sections. There is one large bush that fell down on about the 10th switch back. It was to dark for me to work on it. Go ride
SKINNY01/23/10Good ride with great friends..
MaR01/17/10Rode w/ D, Joe, Francis and Roc. Lots of riders today but still fun. Upper half was rockier than i thought.
SuperDutyDave01/16/10Lots of hikers and riders but still great!!
gone2vegas01/02/10it was a frickin zoo today!
BrownWonder12/30/09B@#$'n night ride, highly recommended!
javarockers12/26/09Actually rode down Chaquita from Blue Jay but cannot find a route from anybody. Great ride with Jimmy, Dani & Dan
Aceospades125012/21/09Fun shuttle with Johnny the day after we climbed to cocktail rock.
BrownWonder11/26/09Awesome night ride with the fellas!
TrailKing11/21/09First run of 2 with the 3F group. Didn't keep track of time.
TrailKing11/21/09Shuttle run #2.
SuperDutyDave11/21/09Great being back on my favorite trail
mpmffitz11/19/09The trail is in great shape, the iron stakes for the washouts have been covered.
tweasol11/15/09took the lazy route today with Peter my infamous shuttle friend, Pulled my back after this ride, the mountain bike gods didnt appreciate the shuttle. owwww!!
SlowClimber10/24/09Good ride with Brian and Cory - trail is in good shape. We met with a group work their way up and one of the Women trailing the group took a fall above the second Switch backs.. Brian then took his share of dirt and was saved by his knee guards....
SlowClimber10/11/09Great ride with Cory, Brain, and Jerry.. Final got my fork and shock tune so nice, it's like a magic carpet ride......
daveo10/05/09same as notes below. this was the 2nd trip down except we went old san juan this run. what an exciting trail. little slower this time due to fatigue.
moodyMAGIC10/05/09Took my lil bro out for his first MTB ride with me and the guys. Orlando and his brother Hector joined Javi and Joey and I too. Matt did Great only hucking himself off 3 cliffs. Crazy guy, but he rides hard. Great job Matty.
moodyMAGIC10/05/09The best trail in Orange County by leaps and bounds.
daveo10/05/09Went twice with Casey,Shaun,Juan,Joe,Adam,Nick.Nick popped his shoulder out and was glad he had a helmet on.By the scratched on Adam’s legs,it appears he found a mountain lion going in the bushes. We had 3 flat tires,we had to borrow a tube from another rider,we saw him down the trail patching his tube.Casey felt like a schmuck for taking his last tube.Perfect weather! We went down old San Juan the second time, that was the first time I’d been on that trail LOVED it Great time had by all
Stinger10/05/09Best Ride Ever! Best Crew! 23.5 miles. Rhode this trail twice. Tooks some spills and got a little banged up but well worth it.
Stinger10/05/092nd ride
JAYHINOJOSA10/05/09This was a great ride. very technical....rode with JOey,Moody,MAtt Orlando and hector...
S0NIC10/03/09Easy Saturday ride after a week of Utah riding.
onegear709/12/09Great ride with John; this was the proof test for the hardtail 3spd Niner.
daveo09/08/09rode with Casey and Shaun. thier 1st time on San juan. no injuries (except bee sting,Shaun) great time had by all. my 1st time shuttle. no guilt for not riding up...done that.
agitate189009/07/09couldn't make start of ride from bottom, met group at cocktail.thanks for the ride back ben..
e-cirb09/01/09couldn't avoid flat tires today. 3 flats later i finished the trail.
TrailKing08/16/09Good ride with Matt,Scott,Harv, Kim,Frank,Miguel,& Johnny.
slow up08/08/09w/Roddy, Jefe, & Brian. 3 flats & hot as... But this ride gets better every time we do it. Added Viejo Tie loop again.
CoronaKid07/27/09My friend took me on this even though I haven't really ridden for 10 years. I think I need a few more easy rides before tackling something like this again. Definitely NOT for beginners. There is a good 2 miles of very hard technical uphill. I was humbled to say the least. You are rewarded with 6 miles of downhill at the end which is the best downhill I've ever done. Just watch your speed if you are a newbie like me.
e-cirb07/17/09My first time on this trail and it was a blast.
ridnsolo07/12/09
Gerry Lattimer07/07/09Another early morning shuttle ride with a bunch of former BMXers.
Gerry Lattimer07/01/09First time shuttling the trail and forgot the Garmin in the bottom car.
SDstumpy06/28/09Brought a newbie to San Juan. Just about killed him doing the SJ shuttle. Good thing we didn't ride up. It was also triple digit temps!
downhillfury06/22/09Most fun I've had biking, lots of close shrubs though, wear long sleves and PADS! not for beginners
ahhooie06/20/09Crashed in the rocks at the first 50 yds. New pedals are WAAY too tight. Couldn't unclip. Rocky and technical to Coctail rock, then smooth down. Looking forward to attempting and up-and-back.
Ladera Dave05/25/09Great ride with 15 of my friends
SuperDutyDave05/23/09Trail is in AWESOME condition. Very fast & almost NO riders
ridnsolo05/01/09Fun ride w/ buddy's from work. One rattler and one flat. Great ride.
slow up04/25/09w/Roddy & Jeffe and we added the Viejo Tie loop on the way...
slow up04/25/09
1TrackJ04/12/09great downhill run, do not take it back up, very narrow, some technical. You must have two cars
jonny42704/06/09Little sandy in some parts (especially the switchbacks), but otherwise ok.
SlowClimber04/04/09Wonderful day with Brentrim, Crasher, and 1TrackJ. Brentrim bent his rotor about 1/3 way donw. A good rock and 45 mintes later we were rolling again. Not too many people on the trail after 10 am - but there was one JERK who thought the trail was allocated only to him and the safty of other's wasn't important.
SuperDutyDave03/28/09It's going to be a hot summer! Better switch to night!
RYAN FOREST03/07/09Rode with Downhill Ted. He got two pinch flats! Great ride, PERFECT WEATHER!!!
TrailKing03/01/09Good ride, trail needs some serious brushwork. Need more rain to get the trail tacky again. Pretty loose today, had to run really low tire pressure to grab on.
Lowtech02/28/09Great ride with slowclimber and bentrim, first time out there, first time off a cliff!
Lowtech02/28/09
SlowClimber02/28/09Lots of floks on the trial today. Great ride with Benrim, Lowtech. Given all are newbies we did prety well and only had three falls, one each. We will go back at this again and ride it without having blood spill.
cselectric02/22/09meet 2 new freinds on the this ride ,it was their first time on this trail.....they loved it...
tweasol02/15/09garmin turned off midway through ride..arg. Otherwise trail is in AWESOME shape. (thanks rain). Also noticed some work done on the trail thanks to those who did that
mtnlaw02/02/09Good ride yesterday, the trail is getting a bit loose and sandy. the trail will be in great shape this coming weekend after the rains on Thursday and Friday,,, can't wait.
Rowsby01/25/09Rode with Franks list. Pissed down when we got to cocktail rock!
flyingbrian01/24/09rained almost the whole time !, but we still had fun
OverlordCZ01/16/09This ws my first time riding the trail, went with two buddies of mine and did the shuttle thing. Night Ride (started at 7:50 pm). The most technical ride I have been on. I went over my handle bars once, leaving a nice gash in my knee. Keep an eye out for the branches and brush when trying to pick a line through the rocky sections. My right arm got pretty scraped up and bruised even with wearing long sleeves.(looks like I lost a fight) Will ride again, but during the day next time!
SuperDutyDave01/10/09Killer day even though I had broke my front brake lever!
Brantley01/10/09Clear skies today with great views of the ocean and Catalina Island. Rode with John C, Mike M, Art V, Santiago M.
mtnlaw01/04/09good ride today, weather was great. Top part of the trail had trees blocking the trail. Had to jump off the bike a few times to go around the downed trees.
