Mark W.07/25/10Beautiful morning with Matt, John and Ben
Slow Ride07/11/10Good morning ride with cleanbeater... there were a lot of riders out there!
Waldo07/10/10Planned to do the Lollipop Loop too, but the heat & humidity got the better of us. Decided to save some energy to make the descent more enjoyable - glad we did!
cleanbeater07/10/10Early morning ride with Slow Ride. Lots of traffic up and down.
TrailKing07/10/10Took the heavy bike out today. Crashed hard just below Cocktail. This trail seriously needs some bushwacking. Clipped a rock while ducking a branch.
Silverback07/10/10Great ride, but getting hot in the afternoon again.
Phishin Paul07/06/10Solo ride Monday afternoon. Only a handful of riders out there. I was surprised.
vodoo07/06/10Cool morning ride with Yadi
Damon M07/05/10Trails in great shape
flyingbrian06/27/10rode with Eric and Dave N, nice day ! Dave's first time up San Juan.....
EK-RSM06/27/10IM: Good ride with Dave & Brian. Bonked because of jetlag.
javarockers06/19/10Great morning ride with Marco. Cool weather.
vt1ryan05/31/10Big Group ride today.
xhuskr05/31/10Didn't feel up to the lollipop, nor did others...getting warm..but not bad. Made more switchbacks today!
MoJo05/30/10Between the mechanicals(me), the hangover(not me), and the fatigue(both)....it was the "Laura and Monica Dog and Pony show!!" Enough said!
ross b05/28/10Lots of crushed granite samples taken. Bless the Lord Jesus for making the rock. Rudy and Eric were great to ride with.
edltfan05/23/10This has got to be the toughest trail I've ridden since I started a year ago. It's a great workout out and back!
Waldo05/22/10Finally popped my San Juan cherry. Nice, cool, climbing-friendly morning, and lots of others agreed that SJ was the place to be!
flyingbrian05/22/10most excellent ride today, great weather too .. Rode with the gang .....
agitate189005/08/10to much fun today with brian, troy and mark jr.lots of laughs.left a little skin for the sj gods too.seemed like more hikers than bikers today..
Gerry Lattimer04/28/10Solo ride up to Cocktail Rock in the dark. 1:11 to the turnaround.
Greo1004/26/1011am start just started to get warm but not bad, in a lot of places trail is sandy over hard pack with many places to slid out. Speed control is key with lots of people up and down all afternoon. Had to ride the old bike bad bearing - still fun and rides great
Phishin Paul04/26/10I got in a solo morning ride today. The only others on the trail were 2 hikers and 2 riders at the end which appeared to be a bail out on the climb. It got warm real fast. I am not liking the Nevegal for rear on SS but it was free.
Silverback04/25/10Great ride. Should have left earlier lots of traffic
IceCreamAndCake04/22/10Yesterdays rain really cleaned up the trail. Saw no one up or down, was a bit cool but no rain during the ride.
chanson04/18/10group ride up SJT to cocktail
vt1ryan04/17/10Nice morning ride. Saw Doug from Rwanda fundraiser he said that they raised over 52K. Saw Gene from Warriors at Coctail Rock. Nice to chat with the group of riders. Trails is in great shape. All of the switchbacks and the trail have been repaired. Awesome
RYAN FOREST04/17/10Rode with stpndpchris... Great ride, kinda warm...
genusmtbkr504/17/10Nice ride with the clan. Too bad the birthday boy couldn't ride, he missed out..., again.
TomG04/16/10Trail is in great shape. Nice cool day no bugs.
trobe104/15/10Good mellow ride with the Hipster today. Saw a group of 4 riders heading down as we were climbing and that was it. Real nice day out there on San Juan.
Hippydude04/15/10Fun short one with T- Robe1 Kenobe son...Man, not riding for 6 days takes a toll on ya physically, kinda painful today. Got to knock that work thing off, gets in the way of the important stuff...
gmann04/12/10started at 3:45. only saw 1 other rider. cool and windy coming down.
KDawg04/08/10Spring break mid week ride with Rick - beautiful day!
devodoc04/07/10Nice mid-week ride w/KDawg. Plan was to go further but ran out of time and energy. I guess that's what happens when you're a bit sick. I think I left more skin on this one ride than I have in all my rides combined. Fun times, and great weather.
flyingbrian04/03/10awesome weather and the trail is in great shape today. broke a shifter cable, so my time up and back was off a little !
BoneBag03/30/10Tuesday coworker ride.
Ladera Mike03/28/10Mid morning ride yesterday. Parking lot was full and lots of riders out. Talked with a couple cool groups up at Cocktail Rock. One OTB on a rut mid way down and then a low speed crash on one of the lower switchbacks; had a blast.
Boerseun03/22/10Fun ride with Burgemeester...his back is not in good shape and he left some DNA on the side of the mountain...ouch!
Flip03/14/10Tubeless issues required a urn around at this point. Fine morning for a ride. added a run up pinos to crosses to make me feel better about cutting my ride short.
jb_29er03/14/10Gotta love the San Juan Trail!
Burgemeester03/14/10This turned out to be a tough ride - back is in bad shape and managed to give Boerseun some first class entertainment with a fall down one of the steeper edges of the mountain! Don't know how I managed to walk out there in tact?! And I FINALLY had to replace my derailleur hanger on the trail! Thanks for the ride - sorry for all the wining at the back there!
Ladera Mike03/05/10Fisrt time here. Trails like this are why I love mounatin biking. Great day, only saw about 5 other riders, all coming down on my way up. Edge 500 finally working properly after new firmware. Burnt 1150 cal going up and only 200 going down. Can't wait to get back out there.
gmann03/05/10Late afternoon start at 3:15. did not see another person the whole ride. It was absolutely perfect today.
TreeTopMike03/03/10My first time. An awesome day riding w/ the Geez, thanks man!
UphillRider5503/02/10Great late afternoon ride again on the SJT. Two large groups out riding today, but I didn't get runover. New Deraileur working well but I am having trouble adjusting to the reverse shifting.
RoughRiderR03/01/10Road with BK and Ibot. Tired today, dont know why. I didnt ride fri or sat. Weird ride...i saw some guy in the buff on the way up! we had plans to ride past cocktail but luckly we decided to head back down. Lots of people on the way down, hikers, bikers, dogs...still not enough mountain biking ladies though.
IceCreamAndCake03/01/10Beautiful day. Only saw one rider and one hiker. The trail is in great condition.
UphillRider5503/01/10Great late afternoon ride, a lot of riders out, only got runover once. Trail is in great shape.
Keith B02/28/10Never seen San Juan so busy. Felt really tired going up and even more tired going down. Plenty of muddy patches and some new ruts too.
Rowsby02/28/10Ride with Keith B & Ryan. The trail was slow but man I needed a ride! Too many people on the trail today.
ryanarciero02/22/10Got the entire ride in before any rain. Trail was in great shape from the rain the previous night.
drg02/20/10A little muddy on the way up, lots of riders on the way down.
IceCreamAndCake02/20/10fun ride with Tien,Zack and Sandy.Trail is a little wet here and there but in great shape.Mud is minor and no problem staying on top of it.
bikesurfski02/20/10San Juan delivers again--minimal mud by noon--quite a few riders out.
gmann02/19/10The middle third of the trail is loose and slippery. 1:26.33 to cocktail rocks, a new best. saw 5 riders coming down the switchbacks as I was going up. Met Nick and Mike at the rocks. Went OTB on the way down. My camelback and backpack cushioned most of the impact.
PaulV02/17/10trail in great shape, someone has been giving it some TLC for sure (thanks!) switchbackcount -1, oh so close!! the rocky left again, almost had it, track stand, then came the dreaded foot on ground. :) saw two guys in the parking lot and then again on the descent. up=54:55, down=32:50, rt=1:27:45
chanson02/13/10crappy day for me on the bike. beautiful out and the trail is in great shape!
UphillRider5502/08/10No tumbling today, peddles are fixed, shifter cable is repaired, but the shifting was disastrous. The only gear that would stay put was 2/2; I will have to work on that soon.
Ladera Dave01/30/10Rand into 20 riders today, rode with our 24 hour team. Perfect weather today.
UphillRider5501/15/10Good ride with Steve (T Bone). Trail needs rain; I just hope it doesn't get too much rain next week.
ridnsolo01/14/10There was a big fire SE of the highway on my way to the trailhead, but nothing to worry about. Then some shuttlers forgot there KEYS to there truck at the top. When I was finished they where already gone, so they must of found a ride. Other than that not to windy and a great solo spin.!!
trobe101/11/10Nice easy pace witn OTB_Again. Perfect day out there on San Juan. Had the trail to ourselves except for a rider named Ira who we met at Coctail Rocks. He started at Blue Jay and was doing the lollipop loop. Interesting attire on him. Thanks for the company Eric!
OTB_again01/11/10Easy cruise up to CR with trobe1...always good riding w/ you Tom. Another beautiful day, really enjoyed the descent today. Felt OK...the back is tight. Back to the chiro...
agitate189001/08/10attitude of gratitude,20 years clean and sober today[1-8-90].thanks for the ride son,you truly are a blessing...
IceCreamAndCake01/07/10fun easy ride up to cocktail today
gmann01/04/101:30.14 to cocktail rocks. a best for me. saw 4 riders at cocktail rocks and 1 rider coming up the swithcbacks
Slow Ride01/02/10Rode with cleanbeater and it proceeded to rain on us making it where we didnt get to do lower and upper san juan.
Mike Honcho01/02/10Great ride with Big Marc
Ben Boronow01/01/10Am ride with Steve & Lonnie. Hooked up with Trevor, Larry, Mike, Dave & Beth. Beautiful weather. Trevor went to the rock with us. The rest took it easy and turned around.
steeleboat01/01/10Happy New Year ride. It sure is great to live in So Cal on days like these.
Shine01/01/10Thanks steeleboat and Jay, nice way to start off the year.
cleanbeater12/31/09From yesterday with Slow Ride. Intended to do San Juan bottom to top, but 3 miles in the rain started. Made it to Cocktail and it appeared to be clearing. About a mile after Cocktail it picked back up, which is when we decided it was too wet/windy/cold to continue. Another ride for another day.
bikesurfski12/31/09Spectacular end of Year ride after rains yesterday, trail was great, a couple dozen riders out there, including Craig and Steve--good to finally meet you. A bunch of us started toward Cocktail around 9 am cranking hard and a rider came up later and zoomed past everyone--she was amazing. Happy New Year everyone and hope to see you out there soon.
STEVO CARRILLO12/28/09Morning ride with Lonnie's Sunday group. Started out with a pretty large group but ended with only five of us. Thanks Ben, Lonnie, Scott, and Trevor.... Ran into Terry Best and crew climbing up as we were coming down, stopped and had a chat with him. Thanks guy's for the company.
Lonnie12/28/09Fun ride with Steveo, Ben, Trevor, Scott, Mike V., Larry, Dave, Beth,. All but Stevo, Ben, Scott, Trevor, and myself turned around before Cocktail Rock. Super day for the ride since the weather was perfect.
big_guy12/26/09the trail is in a great condition
Ben Boronow12/25/09Ride with Linked Cycling Club.
trobe112/22/09Rode to Cocktail Rocks w/ OTB_Again & Hippydude. Had to bail out there for an appt. Nice day on San Juan, a little breezy but once again great views. Talked to a rider named Joe at Cocktail. Chased 2 other riders going up but then they pulled off to the side. Saw 1 other rider starting to come up when I was nearing the bottom. Forgot the Garmin today.
UphillRider5512/22/09Great ride on the San Juan trail only too short. Made many stops playing with the helmet cam, a little cold and windy made it down just after sunset. Saw Brian (Hippydude) and Eric (OTB Again) returning from their ride on my way up, good to see the two of you.
drg12/19/09Big turn out for linked cycling!!!
adventureDevon12/19/09Beautiful day on San Juan...but slightly crowded too...rode with GZ and saw about a bazillion other people too!
Aceospades125012/19/09Really slow going on the way up
goldrunner12/16/09Old guy wasn't feelin it so we cut it short. Good to almost run into Scott and nice seeing Larry Curly & Moe before they took off on their Pinos run..
agitate189012/16/09cut it short, sick and lame from the start.thanks ben..
UphillRider5512/13/09I hoped to have the 29er back today but was not to be. Shop needs hardware that was not shipped with the rear swing arm. Tested the GoPro helmet cam, had trouble with moisture condensing on the lens, need to use the non-airtight back. Trail is in great shape, even though there were many riders out today.
bikesurfski12/12/09Wild Toad Ride: hoped to sneak up between storms, but really rainy. After switchbacks, increasing showers--gusty, windy--foggy--gorilla in the mist. Then the fog got dark and my headlight reflected in the fog--sort of ride by feel.High penalty for going off trail.Soaked to the bone despite Gortex cover, shoe covers (water came up from below), but kept warm enough.Had to change inside 4Runner the rain was so hard. Saw four drowned-looking bikers finishing when I first started.Great experience :)
PaulV12/09/09great day for SJT, super tacky and fun. A few peep's out, saw group of 3 descending and another group of 3 ascending.
IceCreamAndCake12/09/09fantastic conditions
drg12/09/09Rode with linked brothers. Great day!!
UphillRider5512/08/09I really miss the 29er hope they can fix it soon. Comfortable on the way, froze on the way down. Got to see the sunset near the bottom of the sandy switchbacks saw about 7 other riders on the trail today.
Twitch12/08/09Great day to ride. San Juan held up great for this first rain. There were mabe some 3inch ruts. I saw BikeSurfSki head out just in front of me, we were the first up this trail today with one hiker and an old black lab off the leash.
trobe112/07/09Decided to go out and play in the rain today. When I got to the parking lot I was surprised to see 2 other cars. While climbing saw Eric P. from RnR and he was with a guy I have met out there before, Adam. Not to bad until about a mile before Cocktail. Then it was like a winter storm - high winds and driving rain. Started to get cold at that point. San Juan is very ridable even in weather like this. Got back to car just before dark. There was an overturned truck on Ortega. Hope they are ok.
goldrunner12/05/09Great ride, any time is a great time for SJ. Thanks Marks. Good seeing Jo, Willamina, Pat and about 50 other riders today. SJ was the place to be today : )
zunGu12/05/09Just be for dusk, still a number of riders about.
agitate189012/05/09very fun ride with goldrunner...
Damon M12/03/09Great night ride on Single Speed
Gerry Lattimer12/02/09Nice easy night ride to the rock and back.
Royster7111/29/09Nice riding with you Mojo, Kevin and Mike. Saw a lot of familiar faces up there..Always great seeing everyone.
cleanbeater11/27/09Thought a slow pace would help me kick this cold... no such luck. One OTB 4 switchbacks from the bottom capped off a great ride =).
