| Christa lake forest | 03/10/10 9:22 PM | Wow! For anyone who needs bike tuning, I have found an AWESOME service here in Orange County. I want to give Green Gear Bicycle Services a much deserved shout out. Green Gear Bicycle services will pick up and drop off your bike at your front door for most OC addresses. Now that’s convenience, but if you’re not comfortable with that arrangement, you can drop off and pick up your expertly tuned bike in a very short turnaround time, even same day service! As you may know that most OC boutique bike shops required you have an appointment, and when it’s finally returned to you it’s typically not cleaner then when you dropped it off. Green Gear returned my bike squeaky clean like showroom condition. I am extremely impressed with the quality of their service, attention to detail and expert advice. When I got my bike back it looked like new and rode like a champ at better then boutique prices. Green Gear is operated by a genuine bike enthusiast. Call Marco at 949-371-3795 |
| mtnbikej Orange | 03/10/10 9:17 PM | Huh?!?!!?!? Terry, you know that the Motorway is not a Novice trail. |
| BigT Laguna Niguel | 03/10/10 9:13 PM | Rock... I'm doing Motorway on Friday if you wanna roll. It's a novice route with short moderate climbs. |
| angry red squirrel newport beach | 03/10/10 7:52 PM | what the hell do they put in the water in the i.e |
| Rockette Milford | 03/10/10 7:16 PM | Hi everybody I'm visiting the OC this week I have the weekends and next week after work. Looking for ride suggestions for say advanced novice skill level. No huge climbs please. Peters Canyon? crystal cove O'Neil I'm not a total wimp but I don't want to get out there 10 miles and then get into trouble. |
| Red Ryder Garden Grove | 03/10/10 7:47 AM | ChrisB, after I upload the gps information to Mapsource and create a gpx file, I edit the gpx file using the "cut" feature. I cut out the "teleportation" section. I then need to save each route separately. I keep the original gpx file until I'm sure the routes are split correctly. |
| ChrisB Moreno Valley | 03/10/10 6:33 AM | Is there a way to split a ride up into 2 routes? Accidently forgot to reset my garmin after one ride and then did another ride? So it has me teleporting from one location to another (like a 60 mile teleportation). |
| BigT Laguna Niguel | 03/09/10 2:11 PM | Attention Kmart shoppers... |
| Hippydude san clemente | 03/08/10 7:40 PM | He's baaack.... |
| Hall Monitor Pacoima | 03/08/10 12:56 PM | Looks like the rain has finally stopped and the weather is going to be ideal for awhile at least. I'm going to have to attach a mower to the back of my rascal to trim down all of the green vegetation out there. Thanks to those of you who have tried to stick to national forest trails and trails which handle the rain more than those which don't. Thanks to those of you who have done trail work, and a special thanks to those of you who have or will decide to do trail work this year. We all want to enjoy the trails, and want to have access to as many trails as possible. In order to accomplish that, we must ride according to the IMBA code of ethics and be respectful of the environment and other users (i.e. hikers and equestrians). Good luck to those of you who are riding Vision Quest or Counting Coup. It looks like the weather is going to be wonderful for those events; I hope you all complete those events safely and achieve personal bests. |
| BigT Laguna Niguel | 03/06/10 3:55 PM | You need a 305 to get your heart rate working? Usually excersize does it for me...? |

| Rumpled Lake Forest | 03/04/10 4:14 PM | Improve Nearby Compare Routes? When I click on this from a route page; I get very few close routes. I'm guessing it's only the "official" routes? Maybe if it was expanded to all routes or given that choice we could see more nearby routes. |

| Keith B Rancho Santa Margarita | 03/04/10 12:45 PM | Well.....avoid the parks here this weekend as they'll be closed due to rain. Head to San Juan or Santiago Truck trail for a good rain ride. The Path will give you a good deal on a bike they're based in Tustin. |

| Kriskb Tucson | 03/02/10 9:16 AM | Staff: are you guys checking this forum anymore? I can't upload GPX files I get this error: Warning: getimagesize(routes_personal/11967/33010/roller.jpg) [function.getimagesize]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/geoladders/include/gpx_parse.php on line 303 |

MUCH Thanks to Exceptionally-Cool Lonnie for making his available to me, I'm now in the process of transferring it through Chris at the Warrior Society. See you all March 20th on the "hell grind" ! You must also include with that money order the event application filled out and signed by the person who is taking your place. I've attached the application to this email. Mail the money order and filled out application to: The Warrior's Society 11278 Roanoke Court Cypress, Calif. 90630 Once the application and money order is received I will notify you that the change has been made. | BigT Laguna Niguel | 02/27/10 9:33 PM | Wow. Double? For a bike ride? |
| Kruze72 Mission Viejo | 02/27/10 9:47 AM | *** CC ticket-holder-peeps: I'm offering to pay you DOUBLE what you paid for your Counting Coup entry ticket. *** Hey, if any of you CC-entry-ticket-holders is "sitting on the fence" about going forward with this year's CC race.....or for whatever unfortunate reason is realizing now that they won't be able to compete this year: I'm ready, willing, and offering to pay you TWICE what you paid for your ticket. I think the math is $85 x 2 = $170 I'll put in your pocket for your ticket. I'm one of the many that got "shut out" of the sign-up period....but I've been cc-race-training for the last four months anyway, hoping to get a shot at it. Believe me, I understand that "letting one of these tickets go" is probably a tough thing to do, but if you are realizing that you have to --- let me at least offer to double your money back on it. Much thanks, and good luck to all the CC and VQ riders! (may I be one of them!) Contact me at mike.torpey@gmail.com or phone 248-506-0811 -- peace!!! |
| Heathermarie9 Aliso Viejo | 02/26/10 5:59 PM | Don't worry Jeff, Mud Baths date back to the dawn of time, being associated not only with complete relaxation, but also with many other benefits such as: promoting a youthful complexion; detoxifying the skin; easing muscle tension; alleviating inflammation; and soothing arthritis-related joint pains.LOL! :-) Joking aside I prerode it & there were some puddles & mud already, but it was rideable. Last downhill section had the most moisture & some slippery stretches of thicker mud. If it rains more I think there will definately be some pretty sticky spots here & there, but adds to the fun! See ya at the race!:-) |

| robbiesdad Westlake | 02/23/10 6:15 PM | tweasol: you need software (GL) to calculate it from the track. With GPS you're always moving so calling something a pause means going under a minimum speed. (305 Manual says auto-pause data is not stored in history file so it's not worth turning on) |
| tweasol Trabuco Canyon | 02/23/10 2:17 PM | How do you figure out paused time (or geo's calls it "time with breaks") from a 305? |
| robbiesdad Westlake | 02/20/10 9:02 AM | GpsUpload is an excellent site for visually finding/managing routes. Map-based or text-based searches. Saving routes in groups (route bar). Includes personal routes in the search. A hidden gem in FAQ #16. |

| quikflip27 Rancho Santa Margarita | 02/16/10 11:45 PM | I think all the trails should be avoided until summer, or at least until I catch up on points. Thanks |

| robbiesdad Westlake | 02/16/10 4:52 PM | News on random shut off: GeoAgent is superior to Garmin Communicator. Even with an rso GeoAgent will upload the entire ride. (my 305 rso'd) |
| Christa lake forest | 02/16/10 3:15 PM | The luge is in great shape:) |
| Tubthumper Lake Forest | 02/16/10 11:24 AM | How's the Luge, anyone been on it since the rains? |
| Hellride Costa Mesa | 02/15/10 9:45 PM | Thanks! |
| Staff | 02/15/10 8:16 PM | Hellride: There is a known issue with the heart rate upload for some people. There will be a new version of the code up very shortly which might fix that (and add support for the edge 500). |
| Keith B Rancho Santa Margarita | 02/15/10 7:54 PM | Thanks for the advice guys. I uploaded Sporttracks and got my gpx OK but I'll take DaddyHC's advice and give the lap thing a go. |
| DaddyHC Prescott Valley | 02/15/10 7:04 PM | Keith B: I make it a habit to press the 'lap' button on my Edge 305 within about 50 feet of starting each ride. That causes an entry to be made in the 'history' memory. Otherwise, when there is no history entry and the Edge unexpectedly does an rso (random shutoff) and I turn the Edge back on, usually most programs will not see the data before the rso. Those programs will only see the data after the 2nd turn on (if there are no more rso), because eventually when you press the 'stop' button a history entry is made and only the data after the last rso is saved. A history entry is normally made or added to when either the 'lap' button is pressed or the 'stop' button is pressed. Try this experiment: start a ride and then scroll to the history section and you will see there is no history entry. There is data in what I'll call current memory, and that data isn't saved until a history entry is created.. |
| Hellride Costa Mesa | 02/15/10 5:20 PM | What am I doing wrong? My heart rate doesn't upload. Have an Edge 705. |
| robbiesdad Westlake | 02/15/10 4:11 PM | If Sporttracks has an export option, export as GPX and submit the GPX to GL. That might do it. I think Garmin Commmunicator is the problem. |
| davidB. Arcadia | 02/15/10 3:52 PM | I've had that happen. GTC won't see the first half of the ride on the map, but Sporttracks will |
| Keith B Rancho Santa Margarita | 02/15/10 1:23 PM | My GPS turned itself off half way through a ride. I turned it back on and the total distance/ascent continue to go up but when I try and upload my ride only the 2nd half is there - can I get it back, if so how?! |
| Staff | 02/14/10 7:13 PM | Sydney, when starting a ride on an existing route you must be within about 100ft. of where the original route was started. Note, when viewing the playback, if you click directly on the orange route it will restart the playback from that point (i.e. syncing all moving dots). |
| Sydney Aliso Viejo | 02/14/10 6:48 PM | i have a garmin forerunner 305, every time i upload my rides and do the playback, it says it cannot find my starting point. why does it do that? |
| Ladera Mike Ladera Ranch | 02/13/10 9:09 AM | Thanks for the update! |
| Staff | 02/12/10 4:36 PM | Fred's banging his head against it today, and hopes to have new code up before Monday. Fred's head hurts after several banging episodes with the Edge 500. Fred thinks backward compatibility is highly underrated by hardware manufacturers. |
