THE GAME OF CONTROL is a new routes based team game, packed with fun, challenge and strategy for mountain bikers of all types.
Take control of any route by riding it, but be careful, another team could take it away. The more routes your team controls the closer you'll be to winning. 1) To control a route, ride it. 'Control' of a route goes to the team with the most rides. 2) Completed rides must be entered (i.e. posted) on the same day they are ridden!! 3) Post all rides as normal ladder rides, the points also appear in your weekly game. 4) At the end of the week, the winning team is the team with the most points, not routes. Therefore, the longer routes will gain more points for your team, although losing one to another team can be a bigger step backwards. 5) Points are awarded only once per route even if the route has been ridden multiple times by the team. For example if the team has ridden a 13 point route 4 times during the week (i.e. to gain control) the team still only receives 13 points, not 4 x 13. 6) Routes worth less than 10 points are not counted in the game. 7) End of day bonuses (25 points) are awarded to teams controlling a 'Route Category'--Short, Medium, Long, or Extra-Long, ...winning these bonuses can be vital to strategic game play! 1) Everyone on Geoladders** is automatically assigned to a team. Teams have roughly 75 to 125 teammates and stay together as a team for 6 months.
** On your first ride post 'ever' on the ladder you are automatically assigned to a team. Riders that are inactive for 30 days (i.e. don't post a ride) are not added to a game. 2) Each week your team is automatically broken up into small groups of players to compete against other teams in a game of CONTROL for one week (far right column), ...almost everyone is in a game every week. 3) All game points contribute to the Overall Team Standings (middle), even if your team loses the game. BONUS: Winners of any game get 25 points added to their individual ladder score (on Sunday).
-- When in a game, move your cursor over any object to see additional information. Some objects can also be clicked on or double-clicked on. -- -- The short, medium, long, and extra-long route bonuses are like having an extra rider for the day. They really add up. -- -- There is an inherent balance in the game; teams tend to target the winning team, steal their routes and make it very difficult for any team to launch out too far ahead. -- -- If your team rides a route only once, another team could steal it from you, especially on the last day of the game (day 7), leaving your team no way to win it back. -- -- Setting your screen resolution to 1280x1024 or greater makes playing the game much more enjoyable.. -- |
